Abstract

Educational evaluation plays an important role in improving the quality of learning by providing an overview of student achievement and the effectiveness of the teaching process. This study aims to comprehensively analyze educational evaluation approaches, including formative, summative, and alternative evaluations, as well as the role of technology in supporting the evaluation process. Using the literature study method, this study examines various relevant literature to identify the strengths, weaknesses, and challenges faced in the application of the evaluation approach. The results of the analysis show that the combination of formative and summative evaluation provides significant benefits in supporting continuous and directed learning. Formative evaluation provides feedback that can improve the learning process in real-time, while summative evaluation remains relevant in the final measure of achievement. In addition, alternative approaches such as authentic and project-based assessments are able to assess students' critical thinking skills and creativity that cannot be effectively measured through traditional methods. However, comprehensive principles that combat challenges are resistance to change, limited resources, and the need for adequate digital literacy. Digital technology has the potential to improve efficiency, but it requires appropriate policy support and intensive teacher training. The study concludes that a varied and adaptive evaluation approach, supported by progressive policies, professional training, and adequate infrastructure, is a strategic step to improve the overall quality of education.
