Comparative Study of Indonesian and Singapore Secondary School Curriculum: A Study of Design, Implementation Practices, and Educational Objectives

This article discusses a comparison of the education system between Indonesia and Singapore by highlighting three main aspects, namely curriculum implementation practices, educational goals, and education system structure. The background of this research is the need to reflect and compare the education systems of other countries as an effort to improve the quality of national education, especially in the context of the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Indonesia. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the library research method, where data is collected through document analysis, government policies, scientific journals, and various other relevant literature. The results of the discussion showed that Singapore has advantages in teacher training and development, a comprehensive assessment system, and educational objectives that are geared towards the development of global competencies and active citizen character. Meanwhile, Indonesia still faces challenges in terms of policy implementation, limited resources, and gaps between concepts and practices in the field, even though it has a holistic education vision through Pancasila student profiles. This comparison shows that Singapore's education system can be used as a strategic reference to strengthen the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, especially in terms of policy consistency, strengthening teacher training, and integrating 21st century skills. Thus, strengthening education governance and resource support is the key to realizing adaptive, quality, and competitive national education in the global era.
